Sanibel is a cute little island off the southwest coast of Florida. It’s a family-friendly little beach town, yet it can be romantic and private as well. Here are 5 of our favorite things to do on Sanibel Island.
– Rent bicycles. There are miles & miles of sidewalks and bike trails in Sanibel. You can practically get anywhere on the island on your bicycle and there are plenty of great places to rent them!
– Go shelling on the beach. Sanibel’s coast is known for its abundance of shells. Look for shark’s teeth, conch shells, sand dollars, and starfish, among others.
– Catch a sunset on neighboring Captiva Island. Just to the northwest of Sanibel, Captiva’s westward facing beaches are the ideal spot to watch the sun sink below the horizon.
– Dine alfresco at one of the many Sanibel restaurants. We recommend the Sandbar (oceanfront restaurant with excellent seafood and wine) or the Lazy Flamingo (you can’t beat their peel & eat shrimp or the laid back, casual vibe).
– Nighttime walks in the tide pools at low tide. You’ll be in for a real treat with all the incredible sea life you’ll see in the moonlight!
